Definition: "abrico" is an old term from the 19th century, originally used for a type of grapevine known as "lana". It was also used in French and Spanish to refer to an animal that eats grapes (bacan). In English, it could be any kind of grape vine, but more often than not refers to the lana. The word "abrico" can also mean "a small child", a type of fruit that is usually smaller than other fruits, and "a little person or young animal". In the 19th century, "abrico" was used as an adjective for any kind of grapevine, including those that were grown in California. The grapevine known as "lana" became popular in the US because of its high quality wine grapes. The term "abrico" has since evolved into a synonym for "grapevine", which is the type of vine used to grow grapes.
