Definition: Adeno carcinoma is a benign tumor in the upper part of the intestine, usually found in adults, but sometimes children also can have it. Adenocarcinomas are also known as polyps (bulky or flat growths), where cells grow out of their normal shape and are called adenoids. The most common type of adenocarcinoma is small, round, yellowish-nor white, and irregular in appearance. The cells that make up the tumor may appear like a hard, orange ball, and may spread from one part of your body to another. Adeno cancers can affect any area of the digestive tract. They usually do not grow very much and are often removed surgically. The most common adenocarcinomas come in two main types: adenocarcinoma of the cervix (also called vulvar adenocarcinoma) and adenocarcinoma of the bladder (also known as salivary gland adenocarcinoma). They can also grow to other parts of your body, like the lungs or liver.
