Definition: Adenoids are tiny, sticky glands located in the roof of the nose that produce mucus. They can become inflamed or inflamable. This condition, also called adenoid cystic sinusitis, causes inflammation of a small sac formed between the nasal floor and the sinuses. Adenoids are typically found at the base of the nasal cavity. The swelling is usually associated with nasal congestion, fever, and difficulty breathing.
