However, it's believed that in the Old Testament, it was frequently used as an allusion to the "amy", or protein found in the endoplasmic reticulum of cells, which plays an important role during the early stages of cell growth and differentiation. The word appears several times throughout the Bible, including in the book of John where he uses "amyelonic" to describe a "bible" (Revelation 5:17), as well as in the Book of Ezekiel (Ezekiel 28:3) and other places.
