Definition: Coldwater Creek is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in St. Clair County, Michigan, United States. The Coldwater Creek area was created by the 1850s mining company John Coolwell's Cold Water Mining Company, which had operated as a general store in the town of Coldwater since 1846. The name came from the nearby Coldwater Lake. The lake was named after John Coolwell and became known as the "Coldwater Creek."
