Acetanisidide

Definition: Acetanisidide, in drug pharmacology, is a type of derivative of the anion gap inhibitor acetaminophen (AP). It functions by modulating the action of the G-protein alpha subunit on the ion channels, thus decreasing the production of norepinephrine. This effect is beneficial for patients with hepatic encephalopathy (hepethalineuria), a condition that affects the central nervous system and can lead to serious side effects such as nausea and vomiting. Acetanisidide is an analog of acetaminophen, which is derived from the chemical compound 1-naphthalene-1 carboxylic acid. It was first isolated in 1967 and later developed into a new class of drugs called "acetic anhydrides."
