Actinostereoscopy

Definition: Actinostereoscopy, also known as actinoscopy, is a term used to describe the process by which an image is rotated in order to obtain a clear, detailed view of its contents. The actinostereoscopy method involves using a light microscope or other instrument that has two parallel long, thin pieces of glass attached to it. These two pieces are placed side-by-side and the patient is positioned so that one piece is at rest and the other is rotating. When the image is rotated, the image rotates in response to the movement of the two pieces. As a result, the image is not perfectly clear, but instead appears to be distorted or slightly blurred depending on how well it is oriented and rotated. The term "actinostereoscopy" is often used interchangeably with "actinoscopy." However, actinostereoscopy is more commonly known as actinoscopy.
