Definition: The word "affording" comes from the Greek, "aprophos," meaning to give or show something freely, generously, or without charge. In the New Testament, Paul is known for his generous nature, giving to those in need. For example, when he wrote about Jesus' death on the cross (Luke 23:46-51), he says, "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Lord is doing; for He hears what You say." In verse 7 of Matthew 28:18, Paul says, "But you gave back to all that You had received and did not require anything from anyone except that you would give according to what You have received." This shows he was generous with his possessions. This generosity is reflected in the story of Jesus' feeding of five thousand people at once (Matt. 14:2-9), where He gave out food, clothing, and drink freely, without charging a penny for it.
