Definition: Areroscope, also known as an omphalocystoscope, is a device used to visualize the internal organs and structures within the chest cavity, including those within the chest, abdomen, and pelvis. It's commonly used for detecting abnormalities or conditions that affect these areas of the body. The scope is made up of three parts: the base, which houses the image capturing camera; the center part, where the light is focused; and the tips, each with an opening in the middle to allow fluid flow between them. This allows the healthcare provider to view the inside of the chest cavity through a small opening. The areroscope is commonly used for detecting abnormalities or conditions that affect the heart, lungs, liver, and other organs within the chest cavity. It can also be useful for visualizing the internal structures of the abdomen, pelvis, and pelvic floor.
