The county is bordered by the English border to the west, the River Forth to the north, the Brecon Beacons National Park to the south and west and the Scottish Borders to the east. In addition, there are numerous small settlements in the area, including the town of Perth itself.
The County was formed in 1880 as the 'Perthshire and Fife' county, which was abolished in 2015.
